Holiday Decor

Christmas is my favorite time of year so I thought I'd blog about Christmas decor. I've collected some ideas to share with you here.

A Swedish style Christmas with blue and yellow ornaments via Country Living. I love the little straw horse.

A trio of little Christmas trees via Country Living. You could also fill the bottom of the tub up until almost the top with soil or rocks and then have a layer of cranberries hiding the pots completely.

For a festive idea for the space above your mantel hang a wreath inside of a frame like this one from Country Living.

A Star Wreath by Martha Stewart. I think this would be a great alternative to a traditional wreath and it doesn't need to be dressed up since it is already a unique shape. Martha even give you DIY instructions for the wreath.

But my favorite wreath of all is this cushion moss wreath from Martha Stewart. And because it is moss this wreath could be up year round!

Light up your mantle with glowing balls of Christmas lights in bottomless hurricane lamps via Real Simple.

Design Sponge

I heart DesignSponge.  They always have such great ideas and I find something I want to do in my home almost every week.

Below is a door that was turned into a dining table, which I love.  I have also seen a very decorative Moroccan door turned into a coffee table, which was amazing!  And doors used as the headboard for people's beds.  I just love old doors and windows!

This is a great idea for a dog feeder--it turns the dog bowls from functional to beautiful (I mean if you have to have them out wouldn't you want them to be as stylish as possible?).  Bigger dogs should actually eat from a raised dish, I guess it helps with their digestion since they don't have to stoop down as much as if the dish were just on the floor.

And the Mason jar lantern.  I told my mom and fiancé about this and they didn't believe me that it would be awesome as a light fixture above a dining room table.  Then I showed them the picture.

Pottery Barn

I got my Pottery Barn catalog today and loved some of the ideas in it!  Some of my favorite are...

...the mirror hanging on the bookshelf, isn't it awesome?

...these glass wood centerpieces look amazing on a desk, or.....

...as a vase, maybe for a wedding?

...these found soda crates, which I love.  I'm trying to think of some way to use them in my wedding, maybe for our seating cards, or maybe if we do a little favor candy/cookie buffet we can use these to hold the to-go bags or boxes. 

...and of course the barrel chalkboard.  This would be great for a menu board at a wedding, and then you could reuse it at home when you're having guests over for dinner, or just to write notes to the family!
